How this works
We estimate charging time from the battery energy required, the selected charging power and charging efficiency. The calculation assumes constant power.
Battery energy = usable capacity × (target charge − start charge) ÷ 100. Time = (battery energy ÷ efficiency) ÷ charging power.
Real charging power changes with battery temperature, charge level and vehicle or charger limits. DC fast charging especially can slow down at high charge levels.
